At the start of this month, we wrote about Nine Dots Studio’s amazing-looking space combat simulator GoD Factory: Wingmen. Their Kickstarter campaign is due to end on 06 July 2013 and the developers need your help now more than ever.

GoD fACTORY Wingmen title

We became official backers for GoD Factory: Wingmen after seeing its stunning visuals and great design on Kickstarter. For those who don’t already know, the aim of the game is to form a group with three of your friends to try and destroy another team’s space carrier. Before joining online matches, the player will be required to make two gunships using twelve parts per ship, which can be purchased from the in-game shop using credits earned from your wins. Once in the battle you’ll need to disable different key areas of your opponents’ carrier before going in for the kill.

Two options on how to play are offered: you can either choose the third-person mode to see your great looking ship twisting and turning in the heat of battle, or you can play in first-person which takes you into the cockpit of your chosen vessel. Add to this the promised Oculus Rift support and you won’t have a more realistic experience if you tried (unless you teleport to the future and get involved in a space fight yourself of course).

At the time of writing, the project is twenty-eight percent funded with only twelve days to go. But all is not lost just yet and Nine Dot Studio have released details on new mystery ships to try and drum up some interest. These include the Chorion, the Guantri and the AR Blossom; all look stunning with their elaborate designs and bright colors, and we’d love to play with any of them.

In a recent update to their backers, the team admit that they’re lagging behind a bit but staying positive and pushing forward: “Only two weeks left already, now we are going into our final sprint to get attention from the media… A lot of projects got most of their funding in the last few days of their campaign, but we won’t take anything for granted and we’ll keep on pushing. If you help us with this, you increase a lot our chances of succeeding.”

GoD Factory: Wingmen looks and sounds like one of the best space combat simulators we’ve seen in recent years. Not since the 1997 PlayStation title Colony Wars have we been so excited about a game of this genre and it would be a shame if the project didn’t see the light of day. This title really is shaping up to be something special and if you haven’t already done so, head on over to both the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight pages to give Nine Dots Studio your support.
