GoD Factory: Wingmen is out of this world

Kickstarter, being the wonderful place that it is, has thrown us another great campaign to back in the form of GoD Factory: Wingmen. Nine Dots Studio’s project is a competitive four-versus-four space combat space simulator for PC in which you build your ships part by part.

GoD fACTORY Wingmen title

The aim of the game is to team up with three of your friends to try and destroy another team’s space carrier. Before joining online matches, the player will be required to make two gunships using twelve parts per ship, which can be purchased from the in-game shop using credits earned from your wins. Once in the battle you’ll need to disable different key areas of your opponents’ carrier before going in for the kill. You can play the game either in third-person to see the ship you made in its full glory, or from inside the cockpit for a full immersive experience.

A quote from the Nine Dot Studio explains the different platforms it’s going to be on and potential additions for the future: “This is primarily a PC game, but we’re open to the possibility of bringing the game to consoles if the opportunity arises. We will also have a Mac version, but it might not be available at launch. Linux is a possibility, but no promises yet.” So the team are really trying to cover all bases and bring GoD Factory: Wingmen to as many people as possible.

An aspect of the title that should keep you playing is the fact that your carrier improves over time, giving a strong sense of progression as you become more powerful. The game also supports Oculus Rift, and we can’t wait to put our headset on and feel like Captain Kirk whilst totally immersed on the cockpit of our own custom-made ship. Unfortunately, this may not be ready in time for launch but we’re sure Nine Dot Studio will bring it to us as soon as they can.

Funding is due to end on 06 July 2013 and these guys need your help to make GoD Factory: Wingmen a reality. If Nine Dot Studio can’t achieve their goal of $70,000, the Canadian Media Fund will refuse them a loan for the rest of the money and this project will be dead in the water. If you like what you’ve seen so far, make sure you head over to Kickstarter now and pledge what you can – and make sure you give the team a thumbs-up on Steam Greenlight.
