Batman is back! It’s time to get our black rubber suits on again, talk in a gruff voice, ask ‘Where is she?’ and get excited.
With the announcement earlier this week about latest game Batman: Arkham Knight being released later in the year, to say I got excited was an understatement. I love Batman and the entire Arkham series so far and, judging by the new kickarse trailer, it’s sure not to disappoint. Ok, so there is no gameplay footage just yet but seeing as this will be the fourth and final instalment in the series makers Rocksteady will want to go out with a bang.
Arkham Knight takes place a year after 2011′s Arkham City. Crime is low, but all the city’s criminals are working together now rather than fighting with each other. The Scarecrow has found a new batch of fear toxin and has planted bombs containing it around the city. People are being evacuated from Gotham and our hero Batman is sent in.
The trailer shows the arch villains we’ll encounter this time around, including Harley Quinn, Penguin, Two Face and the voice of The Scarecrow, but unfortunately no joker. If you completed Arkham City then you will understand why he is sitting this one out but as we know, anything is possible in the realm of comic books. The main enemy is a mysterious Arkham Knight, a sort of Batman clone who uses guns instead of his wits; this is an original character created by Rocksteady and will no doubt have fans wondering for some time who this masked man is.
Batman: Arkham Knight is due for release at the end of this year on next-generation consoles and PC only, and no doubt will be at the top most gamers’ Christmas lists. I’m sure even more excitement will grow as the year progresses and more details about this amazing game will surface.
