Speedrun madness

We’ve all tried speedruns at one point or another, where you basically try to complete a game as quickly as possible and perhaps picking up all the collectables in the process. One dedicated gamer though has done a speedrun with a difference – and believe me, it’s harder than you think.

Speedrun maddeness title

Those of us who are old enough to remember the very first Super Mario game back in 1985 on the NES will have fond memories of how revolutionary it was, and the completionists out there would have definitely wanted to collect every coin, squashed every enemy and gone down every pipe possible to get the highest score. That was hard enough, but what if you tried to get the lowest score possible? And by that I mean collecting none of the coins, not killing a single enemy and finishing the level with zero seconds on the clock at the bottom of each flag poll. How hard would that be? Well, it turns out to be quite the challenge as YouTuber NotEntirelySure managed to achieve this monumental task.

It’s worth noting before you watch this amazing feat of platform gaming that the point at 03:51 maybe poses the biggest challenge to this type of speedrun, where it seems impossible to jump over the gap without collecting the three coins suspended over it. To be fair to NotEntirelySure, he manages to get out of this sticky situation quite ingeniously.
