If you’ve never heard of SuperLongName.com, it’s an online game store and community site that makes you feel as if you’re welcome – whether you’re a hardcore gamer or a casual one, this great site has something for you.

Title - SuperLongName

SuperLongName.com was founded on its ‘Big 5 Dots’, being Community, Creativity, Impactful, Exploration and Gaming. It’s hard to argue that these aren’t key to the growth and success of the site. The passionate team behind it really make us feel that they put their users and contributors first, accepting great projects from small developers that want to the world to see what they can do. We really appreciate Nathan taking time out of his day to answer our questions.

1. How did the SuperLongName.com team meet and what made you decide to launch the website?

“My friend Chase and I met in college, we lived on the same floor and over time we discovered our love for gaming and anime made us both Otakus. I later invited Chase and a few others to embark on a journey to create a next-generation console with me. The console inspired us to create a web platform like SuperLongName for gamers who would rather game on their personal computers.”

2. Can you tell us about SuperLongName and what the site is all about?

SuperLongName is a community site for people to play and post nearly everything. From blogs, status updates to games and events. There is no hassle and no popularity contest to get your content on the site either.”

3. Users seem to have total freedom in what they post on SuperLongName.com. Can you run us through a few examples of the kind of things you will accept?

“We will accept basically anything that is legal and polished. There has been times where one person posted a really bad game and we had to encourage them to polish more or submit a different title. The user understood that and accepted all of the free consulting we gave him and he is doing fine.”

4. Looking at the site, there are obvious comparisons to Steam. Do you feel as if you could rival them one day and, if so, what’s a realistic timeframe to do this in?

Steam is indeed a force to be reckoned with. I do have not a set timeframe to rival Steam, I believe we both can exist together. Each year I believe we can reach a new milestone and grow into the tree we’re meant to be as Valve grows Steam into the tree it is meant to be.”

5. So far, we can see that the current games are available for free. What plans do you have for paid games?

“Paid games is a feature that is coming soon. After all, our project Fields of Fresh is not a free game. Currently we want to make sure the audience is large enough as well as the site is secured enough to handle payments.”

6. Do you have any plans for charitable donations from user purchases, in a similar fashion to Humble Bundle sales?

PawByte’s goal is to make the world a better place through video gaming. I admire the Humble Bundle’s efforts and alms to charity and I’m indeed inspired by them to also share profits with charities as they are entrusted to help countless people throughout the world. The exact charities we want to support is still up in the air, but I personally love groups that protect our neighbors lives as well as orphanages and homeless shelters.”

7. You mention community and events on the website. What will these events consist of and how soon do you think your first one will be?

“Our site has tons of events already posted to it. They range from college club meetings to gamejams, tournaments and peace marches. Most of the events are Chicagoan events, but there are also other areas using SuperLongName event features. We also have global events to include everyone.”

8. A community aspect is obviously very important for websites such as this. Have you had any thoughts on implementing community features such as user profiles and groups?

“That is already gone as well. Whenever you join the site you are given a user-profile based upon your changeable display name. You are befriended by me and two other SuperLongName accounts and can also create communities. I prefer to use the term ‘community’ over ‘group’ since community has the word ‘unity’ within it as well as it seems to embrace the philosophical doctrines of a lifestyle of people on mission together with common interests.”

9. Steam has its Greenlight process for indie developers to sell their games through the platform. Do you imagine a similar feature for SuperLongName or are you open to all developers?

“We do not have a Greenlight process on our site. Neither do you have to pay to sign up to use our site. We do have an approval process similar to that of Kickstarter. We essentially check our rubric of qualifications and then approve it. If your game is unapproved we will explain why and within hours your game is approved if you fix it. Charging people money to use one’s platform can be devastating to some people as they could’ve used their money to contract out a logo designer, voice actor, etc instead of paying a platform for the ability to use it.”

10. If there are any potential developers reading our article and looking for a sales platform for their game, what benefits does SuperLongName provide?

SuperLongName provides an ad-sharing revenue system to people similar to that of Google’s YouTube. We have ads powered by Google, Project Wonderful and our own platform on the site. Even if you use the site to post game updates or blog you are paid for that content. Some people are simply just looking for a free host and we can do that as well. Our site has been growing nicely this year and I think it would be a great leap of faith to join our network.”
